Enjoy the latest from http://lemon.ly :

Big Omaha is a big deal for team Lemonly. After our CEO, John, went to the first Big O in 2009, he has brought team members back with him every year.

Not only is this conference a fun chance to network with people from across the country, but it’s also a powerful conference with quality speakers that leave everyone inspired. To keep that inspiration just a click away, we decided to illustrate our favorite quote from each of the Big Omaha 2013 speakers speakers and place them together in a handy presentation. Do you have a favorite quote out of the bunch? Let us know in the comments below!

Cheers!

Enjoy the latest from http://lemon.ly :

Team Lemonly made the trek down to Big Omaha and decided to bring a sweet treat. To commemorate year five of Big Omaha, a entrepreneurship and innovation conference right here in the Silicon Prairie, we knew we needed to make an infographic that visualizes the great data behind the wonderful conference we’ve grown to love.

The marriage of Lemonly’s sweet visuals and the talented letterpress production of Spark Letterpress made the Big Omaha at Five years infographic poster a sweet success.

With different data points like male/female ratio, where attendees have been from each year, and speaker specialties, this is definitely fun to look at and a great way to see how Big Omaha has grown.

If you’re a Big Omaha attendee, be sure to grab the limited edition poster today. We only brought so many, so get one quick! If you like what you see, be sure to give our designers a
shout out as well as the talented people at @Spark. To see the poster in digital form, check it out on our infographic work page. It’s definitely a sweet sight in person, but digital works if you couldn’t make it.

If you’re at Big Omaha and want to meet up, tweet us @thinklemonly. We’d love to meet you and talk sweet visuals.

Enjoy the latest from http://lemon.ly :

Here at Lemonly, we obviously love visuals. Did you know visuals like images and photos are the most interacted with content on Facebook?

From personal experience on our Facebook page, we definitely agree. We get double the likes on posting photos vs. links or text. Sometimes though, we get questions about posting infographics on Facebook from clients and friends, so we thought we’d put in our two cents.

Pixel sizes on Facebook

On Facebook, you can post an infographic of a minimum size of 403 x 403 pixels, and a maximum up to 2048 x 2048 pixels. A picture that is posted any larger than 720 x 720 pixels will be resized. Hence, why when you usually post a full infographic to a photo album, you’re not able to read hardly anything like the picture to your right.

Posting Infographics on Facebook

While infographics are GREAT for Pinterest and blogs, a full infographic on Facebook is a different story since the ‘normal’ format of longer than wider infographics usually get resized small enough that content and visuals are hard to see and understand. So how do we fix it?

Here at Lemonly, we’ve decided to post sneak peeks of important parts of the infographic so the audience is able to read at least part of the content and see some of the visuals. After showing a sneak peek, like in the example below, we received great results. Facebook likes tripled, shares increased, and the post reach more than doubled on the screen shot vs. full infographic picture on Facebook.

We suggest posting a screen shot of the most visually stimulating piece of your infographic right on your Facebook page, you can even make an album of your infographic and place different screen shots of different sections in that album. That way, people can at least read a portion of your infographic and click through to your website to read the rest. Be sure to include a link in the photo description to your full infographic!

Not only has placing screen shots of infographics increased interaction on our Facebook posts, but it also has drawn more traffic to our website as well.

What are your thoughts on posting or seeing full infographics on Facebook? Do you agree with posting a screenshot? Comment below!

Enjoy the latest from http://lemon.ly :

Hey Lemon.ly fans! Our Lemon.ly team is growing faster than you can say “Lemonade”, and we have a new hire. Ian Blue is the newest addition to our team, specializing in app development. His laid-back personality and hard work ethic meshes well in the office. In the short time he’s been here, he is already doing big things. We’re excited to see where he takes the future as the Lemon.ly mobile developer.

Take a few minutes to get to know Ian:

1. Where are you originally from?

Sioux Falls, SD

2. What led you to become a developer?

I’ve always enjoyed computers and technology, but becoming a developer isn’t something that I had in mind until recently. Looking to try something new, I attended a class in Chicago that focused on making people mobile app developers. Here I am now!

3. Tell us about an app you created.

One of my first apps that I made allowed users to search for businesses and places of interest around them using photos. It worked by integrating location services, Yelp data and Flickr photos.

4. What’s your favorite app?

This may be a boring answer, but Google Maps has always amazed me. It’s such a powerful tool to have in your pocket and its scale blows my mind. Other than that, I find my self opening Instagram frequently. I like to keep my fingers busy with scrolling through photos.

5. What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy hanging out in Sioux Falls with friends and I love downhill skiing when I get the opportunity. My summers usually consist of some disc golf, slacklining, camping and cycling.

6. What is one thing about yourself that would surprise people?

I’m freakishly good at magic eye pictures and I can somewhat ride a unicycle.

7. If you could be any fictional character, who would you be? and why?

If I’m going to be a fictional character, I might as well have some super powers to go with it. Maybe Superman? Are there any better ones that can fly?

Keep an eye out for the sweet apps that Ian is working on!

Enjoy the latest from http://lemon.ly :

One of the great parts of being a growing company is having new people join. Our newest addition to the Lemon.ly team is a designer named Jessie, a native of Rapid City, South Dakota. She is Lemon.ly designer number six on our sweet team.

Take a look at why we love Jessie already:

1.What led you to become a designer?

As a youngster, I would watch my father hand-illustrate golf course maps. Eventually he started producing the maps on a computer. I think watching my father’s passion for design and detail really led me to becoming a designer.

2. What’s your favorite app?

My favorite app would probably have to be Instagram.

3. What do you like to do in your free time?

I typically spend my free time blogging and running. Completing an ultramarathon is on my bucket list.

4. If you could be any fictional character, who would you be and why?

I would probably have to pick Arya Stark from A Song of Ice and Fire series, better known as Game of Thrones. Arya is a spirited girl who displays great resourcefulness, cunning, and an unflinching ability to accept the hard necessity. I think I relate most to her relentless drive for success.

5. What’s your favorite genre of music to design to?

My favorite genre of music to design to is definitely alternative but every now and again you might catch me listening to some classics from the 50′s and 60′s.

6. What did you say you were going to be when you grew up?

Growing up I’m pretty sure I always said I wanted to be a professional soccer player or freestyle skier. I didn’t come close to either one of those and that’s probably for the best!

7. What drew you to work at Lemon.ly?

Lemon.ly’s attention to detail in every design is what drew me here. Every design produced is crafted with such care and detail. It’s no wonder I wanted to work for Lemon.ly!

It’s safe to say Jessie already fits right into the crazy Lemon.ly culture. We’re glad she didn’t decide to become a freestyle skier so she could join our team. Happy to have you here, Jessie!

By people who love charts for people who love charts. I Love Charts is a popular Tumblr blog that posts fun charts on a daily basis. Not every chart posted is a guaranteed infographic, but I Love Charts is always good for a daily laugh. Feel free to submit your own chart or just get a kick out of browsing through the ridiculous but informative submissions.

3. Mashable Infographics

Just like the name says, this site has a new infographic every day. What we like about this site is the wonderful intro paragraphs they write for each infographic. Daily Infographic is a little more than a picture post every day; this site reads more like a blog. They also offer great search capabilies and their site is sleek and clean.

5. Good Infographics

A great website for “good infographics” and data visualization. This website is very easy to maneuver and explore. With Good Infographics, you can search through categories such as food, movies, social media, health and fashion and watch for a new post each day.

Daily Infographic is a Tumblr blog that once again brings you the latest and greatest infographics from across the web. It’s similar to I Love Charts but has a greater emphasis on providing readers with true infographics. Sweet!

7. CDI – Cool Daily Infographics

An infographic a day will keep the doctor away…or something like that. Cool Daily Infographics is another solid infographic website. Like our other favorite, it provides great search categories and they accept submissions as well. Watch for animated infographics, too!

Hopefully with our list we have helped cure your daily infographic need. We’d like to note that just like in life’s little moments, some infographics are more sweet and some are a little more sour, but these seven websites should be great resources for you to see a wide range of design and information.

Enjoy the latest from http://lemon.ly :

Team Lemon.ly is happy to announce the launch of our first infographic class: Infographic How To: Data, Design, Distribute. Here’s a sneak peak of the intro!

In our debut infographic class, team Lemon.ly walks you through the eight steps of infographic creation. With 83% of all learning being visual and the fact that the brain processes images 60,000x faster than text alone, infographics definitely help get ideas, thoughts, and stories to audiences. Let’s walk through the class a bit.

The Power of Visual Marketing

The first section has two lectures that explain why visual marketing matters and what an infographic is. It’s probably good to know exactly what you’ll be learning to create is.

Start with Data

Section two dives into the first three steps of creating your very own infographic: Inform, Gather, and Discover. These are crucial steps in finding and putting together the data that your infographic will be about.

Delightful Design

While interesting content is definitely key, your graphics need to look sweet, too. Section three goes in-depth into the three phases of creating a wireframe, mood board, and designing your infographic. In this section, we even give you some extra bonuses and have a sample mood board and wireframe to download. Score!

Ready to Distribute

The last section walks through launching and promoting your infographics online. We show you our approach to promotion and different things to think about when you initially launch. Without these steps, you won’t have the eyes, clicks, and shares on your newly designed infographic.

Wanna sign up? Click our handy button!

We’d love to get some feedback from you. Be sure to share your infographics you’ve created with us after taking the class, too.

Happy learning!

It’s official. The 2012 Lemon.ly Annual Report is hot off the press! We’re pretty stoked to release it to the public. Many Friday afternoons and Jimmy John sammys have gone into this bad boy. Finally the brainstorming, researching and designing has come to and end, and we couldn’t be happier with the results.

2012 was a sweet year for Lemon.ly. We created 145 infographics, moved into a 1700 sq. ft new office space, and added 6 new employees – located in 3 different time zones!

Let’s take a look at the details.

As you can see above, we created more technology-focused graphics than any other in 2012, followed by entertainment and education infographics. Our busiest months were March and October, creating record sales.

Lemon.ly clients are scattered across the U.S, Germany, United Kingdom and even France. The majority of our clients populate the coasts and once again the technology and entertainment industries remain popular in the infographic world.

Out of our 145 infographics this year, we definitely had our favorites and so did our fans. Displayed above are the top 10 viewed infographics on Visual.ly and Lemon.ly. Graphics such as the Holiday Movie Flowchart were even picked up and shared by the Huffington Post.

Speaking of shares, it appears that the majority of our fans are in the United States and the United Kingdom, but we have a large amount of fans sharing our work across the globe. Thailand, S. Korea, France, Romania, Italy, Russia and Mexico seem to be pretty excited about our sweet visuals as well.

Our Lemon.ly designers were quite busy this year creating timelines, fill charts, and numerical icons. The graph above takes a look at how many of each visual aid we created over the past 12 months. Pie charts and bar graphs remain the most popular and easily digested diagram.

Team Lemon.ly had an exciting year with six new hires! Ashton, Morgan, Brett, Amy Jo, Chris and Scott all joined the gang, now representing three different time zones. We’re a diverse group of individuals – never a dull day in the office.
